Summer Joy: Beat The Heat With These Healthy Drinks

Summer is a magical time for our body and as per Ayurveda, it offers us an opportunity to balance our doshas by making simple lifestyle and dietary changes. This summer, let us stock our kitchen ad life with healthy drink choices to cool our body and soul. 

Here are some recipes from the Sātmya cookbook that have helped us beat the heat with these healthy drinks. 

1. Amrood

This is a refreshening summer drink using the Sātmya Relax and Rejuvenate Tisane 1 tbsp (with freshly shade dried peppermint and lemongrass), few ripe guavas, guava leaves, kala Namak (Black Salt), red chilli powder, lemon juice 1/2 tsp and lemon peel of one lemon, fresh spearmint 5-6 pcs, bird eye chilli(optional), sweetener - honey (optional), lots of ice and water. 



Recipe
1. Boil water with guava leaves.
2. Steep Sātmya relax and rejuvenate tisane in the boiled water for 10 minutes.
3. Meanwhile muddle 1 slice of guava, black salt, bird’s eye chilli, lemon, lemon peel, spearmint, sweetener.
4. Chop and blend 2-3 small guavas or 1 big guava.
5. Add both of it in a shaker with ice, shake it nice and sweet. Adjust black salt and spice as per your taste.
6. Prepare the glass, add ice, add the strained tea, then pour the delicious guava prep.
7. Finish with a guava, kala namak and red chilli powder.
8. Sip away the delicious combination of lemongrass, peppermint, guava and spice.

2. Vegan Nuts and Seeds Drink 

What better way to start your day than with a refreshing and healthy drink? In this simple recipe, combine cold milk (almond milk or any non-dairy milk) with two spoons of the Nuts and Seeds Superfood Mix and serve chilled. 

Note: To make this drink a perfect kid-friendly drink, add some vanilla extract to the mixture. 

 

 

 3. Shatavari Smoothie 

Take one ripe banana, 1 cup chilled almond milk (or any other plant-based milk), 1 tablespoon shatavari powder and honey (optional) and mix them in a blender. Blend until smooth and creamy to give you the perfect chilled summer breakfast drink. 

Tip: Add peanut butter and ice to give it the extra kick.

 4. Moringa Lassi 

Summer without curd (dahi) is no summer at all! This moringa lassi is a unique combination of the vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants of moringa along with the cooling and probiotic benefits of curd. All you need to do is take some curd and blend it with water, ice, and jaggery. Add a teaspoon of moringa powder and serve. 

Tip: Add seasonal Mango to this recipe to make it a perfect summer drink! 

Note: Dahi (Curd) in itself generates heat in our body, so it is important you mix it with water or use buttermilk (chaach) for this recipe.

 5. Gulkand Lemonade

Simply add a tablespoon of our gulkand, mint ginger lemon squash and some fresh mint to water or any other mixer of your choice and you have your perfect summer drink for guests.

 

 

6. Ginger Lemon Squash With Basil Seeds (Sabja) 

Mix 4-5 tablespoons of our mint ginger lemon squash with chilled water and add the basil seeds. Let this sit for 5-10 minutes until the basil seeds become gelatinous and serve with fresh mint leaves.

Note: You can also soak basil seeds overnight in water and just add to your drink whenever you want!

7. Digestive Drink 

In a blender add pineapple chunks, cucumber slices, digestive churan, and mint leaves. Blend the ingredients together until smooth and mix them with chilled water and ice cubes. The hydrating properties of cucumber and pineapple along with the spices and digestive abilities of the churan will act as the perfect cleanser for your gut and a cool drink for summer. 

Note: You can also add honey to sweeten the taste of this healthy digestive drink.
